OptionFinder® IR Keypad System Released

Option Technologies Announces OptionFinder® IR Interactive Keypad System

October 28, 2002, Orlando, FL – Option Technologies announced the release of OptionFinder IR, a new wireless group response keypad system ideal for small meetings, classrooms, and workshops. OptionFinder IR uses two-way infrared technology to transmit and receive votes, thus providing users of interactivity with a smaller, lighter and less expensive alternative to radio frequency keypads systems.

Rob Monson, Marketing Coordinator for Option Technologies, says that this is the only infrared group response keypad available today with two-way vote confirmation. “The keypad sends a vote to the receiver or “base station” and the base station sends a signal back to the keypad verifying that it has received the vote”, Monson said. “This makes the system highly reliable. In the past, OTI shied away from infrared technology because it relied on one-way reception that didn’t meet the performance standards of the OptionFinder radio frequency systems. All that has changed with OptionFinder IR.”

Monson believes that the new keypad system offers significant advantages in weight, size, and price. “Each pad only weighs about five ounces, including batteries, Monson says. “And they are only about five and a half inches long. The receiver/base is also amazingly small and light. It’s only six inches long by four inches wide and weighs a mere seven ounces. In addition, these systems are remarkably inexpensive. The pads retail for $129 each and the base station retails for $495.”

Moreover, Infrared keypads offer a significant advantage for those who need to take their system across borders. “Many of OTI’s clients have to travel abroad with their keypad systems and infrared technology doesn’t have any legal restrictions”, Monson says.

OptionFinder users, particularly those involved with Control Self-Assessment and Enterprise Risk Management workshops, will be pleased to learn that OptionFinder 5 will soon be able to run with this system. OptionFinder IR is also capable of running with OTI’s new OptionPower software.

Monson indicated the system is sold in bundles beginning at $2621 for a 10-keypad system with OptionPower software and IR base station. Additional keypads carry a list price of $129 per handset.
