May 23, 2003, Anaheim, California - Option Technologies set a record for the largest number of simultaneous group response breakout sessions at one location during the "Driven By Strength" Zocor product sales meeting for Merck and Co.,Inc. More than 3500 Merck associates used the OptionFinder
TM system to participate in general sessions and 26 concurrent breakouts. The meeting involved an innovative game show format designed to reinforce product knowledge.
Nichole Wheatley-Venz, Option Technologies Director of Operations, indicated that the firm "set a record for the most concurrent breakout sessions we’ve ever done for a client at a single location." "We were operating in 26 rooms simultaneously. We had 19 members of our team on site to make it happen," she indicated.
The OptionFinder System, a combination of audience participation software and wireless response keypads, made it possible for every individual to instantly respond to interactive questions related to Zocor
TM, Merck’s cholesterol-reducing drug.
Wheatley-Venz of Option Technologies served as the technical producer working behind the scenes to coordinate the technical components of the program. She has worked on hundreds of interactive meeting projects for Merck around the world over the past twelve years. "This was the largest and most exciting meeting I have been involved with and we’ve done many, many meetings for Merck," Wheatley-Venz said. "I’m really proud of our team. OptionFinder
TM really added to the excitement of the Zocor meeting."
Participants used the OptionFinder
TM keypad technology to participate a NASCAR themed competition. Sales representatives were split into regional teams and responded to Zocor product knowledge questions. Each additional breakout session added competition points from separate "races." These scores were consolidated with points earned during the general session "races". At key points in the meeting, the OptionFinder system provided scoreboards showing the race leaders and leading teams. The meeting was repeated for two separate groups and a total of 3500 participants during a week of activity at the Anaheim Convention Center.
